The Eldar people (sometimes generalized under the name 'Elves') are a race of clinically immortal humanoids within the TDDC universe. They are subdivided into three subraces:
- Elves (aka Wood Elves) of the Fadelands
- Eladrin (aka High Elves) of the Feywild
- Drow (aka Dark Elves) of the Shadowfel (and particularly the Underdark)
In this way the division between the Eldar subraces is largely planar, with the Elves and Eladrin occupying the same territory in different planes. For this reason the Elves and the Eladrin often work together and have similar societies and cultures. The Drow have little to no contact with their sibling races, preferring to independently grow their empire.
Note: The eldar are all clinically immortal as opposed to totally immortal, this makes them able to die by all other means than age. This is clearly shown with the Drow, whose constant infighting and dangerous environment cause few Drow to live past a few hundred years old.
