It's right in the middle.
Gruel is an orcish/goblin nation to the east of Verandi. Unlike Urruk to the north, farming is still possible here, leading to a "Magnificent Seven"-style relationship between impoverished villages of goblin rice farmers and the local orcs, led by Untor the Talker, who take rice at harvest time in exchange for protection from monsters and other orcs. It's not exactly a fair deal for the goblins, but it's better than dying.
